Taylor Root Global Legal Recruitment is currently seeking a Compliance Assistant to join a Private Equity firm based in London. This is a permanent position that offers a great opportunity for individuals interested in a generalist compliance role, with exposure to various aspects of compliance, including regulatory and core compliance as well as financial crime. The Compliance Assistant will work closely with the Head of Compliance, providing support and gaining valuable experience in the field.

Responsibilities:

  1. Regulatory Compliance: Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Stay up-to-date with changes in regulatory requirements and assist in implementing necessary policies and procedures.
  2. Core Compliance: Support the compliance team in monitoring and evaluating compliance with internal policies and procedures. Conduct periodic reviews and assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
  3. Financial Crime: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the firm's anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) programs. Conduct due diligence checks on clients and third parties. Monitor transactions for suspicious activities and report any findings to the appropriate authorities.
  4. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance records and documentation. Assist in preparing compliance reports and presentations for senior management and regulatory bodies.
  5. Training and Awareness: Assist in organizing compliance training sessions for employees to promote awareness of compliance obligations and best practices. Contribute to the development of compliance training materials and communication strategies.
  6. Compliance Monitoring: Support the monitoring of compliance controls and processes. Assist in conducting internal compliance reviews and audits to identify gaps and recommend improvements.
  7. Regulatory Updates: Stay informed about changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry guidelines. Assist in analyzing the impact of regulatory changes on the firm's compliance framework and assist in implementing necessary adjustments.
  8. Shadowing Head of Compliance: Work closely with the Head of Compliance, shadowing their activities and learning from their expertise. Take on additional responsibilities and projects as assigned by the Head of Compliance.

 

Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as law, finance, or business administration. Additional certifications or training in compliance or related areas would be advantageous.
  2. Experience: Prior experience in a compliance role within the financial services industry is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates with a strong interest in compliance and a willingness to learn will also be considered.
  3. Knowledge: Good understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance principles. Familiarity with financial crime regulations, AML, and KYC procedures is desirable.
  4. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work. Ability to analyze information and identify potential compliance issues.
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex compliance concepts clearly and concisely.
  6. Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues at all levels. Willingness to support and learn from senior members of the compliance team.
  7. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  8. Discretion and Integrity: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and integrity.
